Our rationale
As a project, we wanted to find means and ways to connect with the residents even after the screening, taking our preventative health measures one step further!
Thus, we hope that through our health education sessions, not only can we raise awareness for common chronic diseases, but ideally engage and build trust with the residents.
We are also aiming to connect them with Senior Activity Centres, to form a lasting community of friends for the elderly, allowing our efforts to be more sustainable!
Pilot Health Education Programme (July 2024)
In 2023, NHS decided to initiate a “Health Education Pilot”, to conduct health education sessions to raise awareness for chronic diseases that are common in Singapore, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes!
Our Publicity, Health Education and Community Outreach (PHCO) team prepared health-education materials such as slides to be used in our health education sessions, as well as pamphlets about the topics for the elderly to bring home. We hope that these pamphlets can help remind the elderly of important points covered in the sessions allowing them to better remember what was taught during the lessons.
